DKBC Official Rules
- Field/Equipment/Misc.
- Metal spikes are not allowed ! Any other types of cleats are allowed (i.e. softball, soccer).
- The umpires word is final and not to be disputed unless a blatant contradiction to the official rules.
- Any occurrences which are not covered in the rules shall be settled by the Commish and noted for later rules updates.
- Drinking is allowed as long as you clean up your mess after the game. Keep in mind your opponents strongly encourage you to get drunk.
- Players will remember we are all out here for fun. We're here to play Big Dick Kickball, not to be dicks.
- Number of participants
- A maximum of 11 players can be on the field for the fielding team, with no minimum.
- At least 2 girls must be on the field at all times.
- A catcher is not necessary for teams with less than 9 players
- A team having 11 players that is missing a required female player must play short the spot of the missing player. This only applies for teams with 9 players or more.
- Team Members showing up 15 minutes or later after the start of a game will not be allowed to play that day. You may not call in tardy.
- Regulation games
- A regulation game shall consist of 9 innings.
- The “away” team shall kick first.
- The “home” team gets last at kick.
- Home and away team will be determined by schedule.
- The Commish may call a game due to time or weather. (note: The Commish usually calls a game at the first player death by environmental factors only)
- A game is considered official once 4 full innings have been completed.
- Regular season games may never end in a tie. Keep playing!
- Called games shall be played at a future date agreeable to both team captains at a site to be agreed upon. Any games not replayed shall be counted as loss for standings.
- Each team may have base coaches at first and third bases.
- Pitching/Fielding
- The pitcher may pitch just about anyway they want. If the kicker doesn't like the pitch he/she may send it back.
- The pitcher must pitch from the line between first and third base.
- Infield players may not cross the line between 1st and 3rd until the ball is kicked.
- The catcher must give the kicker ample room to kick.
- The catcher may not break the plane of the front of home plate until the ball is kicked and may not interfere with the kicker, except to talk shit. An infraction will result in a called ball. If the ball is kicked, the result does not count.
- There are no strikes. Kicking and missing the ball constitutes automatic out.
- Kicker is considered out if they kick 3 foul balls.
- The batting team has three outs per inning. An out results due to the following:
- A whiff
- A ball caught on the fly
- Base runner is forced out
- Base runner is hit with ball while not on base (if a runner is hit with ball before a run scores in third out situations, the run does not score)
- 3 Foul balls kicked by kicker
- A foul ball that is caught counts as an out, but is a dead play for the offense, meaning runners may not advance. If a ball is touched in fair territory, it is fair, regardless of other factors, i.e. foot placement of the fielder.
- Explaining what is a foul or fair ball takes a bit of work. If you really don't know the difference buy the Commish a drink and he'll gladly go over it with you.
- Kicking/Running
- Bunting is NEVER allowed! If you want to bunt do it on your own time. Bunts are considered a foul ball.
- Runners must stay in the base path.
- Fielders impeding the runners' path to the base shall result in the runner being awarded the base.
- Leading off and stealing are not allowed.
- Leading off/leaving early
will result in that runner being out.
- Sliding is legal and really fucking cool.
- Runners can tag-up, at their own risk, once first contact is made
by the defensive player
- After first contact on a fly ball that is caught, the runner must tag up before advancing to the next base. Failure to tag up before advancing results in an out if the runner is tagged or the ball is thrown to the previous base prior to them getting back.
- Balls thrown at the base runner will count as an out if the ball makes contact anywhere on the player including but not limited to clothing.
- If a ball hits the kicker or any base runner that is not on a base in fair territory after being struck, the kicker or said runner is out.
- Intentionally kicking the ball out of play by the kicker or runner after the out shall result in a dead ball.
- Pinch runners are NEVER allowed. If you can't run, you can't kick.
- No Ghost Runners!! If your team doesn't have enough players to run the bases you don't really have a team, it's more of a clique and those are for Valley Girls.
- Mercy Rule
- Teams may opt to submit if down 15 runs or more. Wuss.
- The Walk-On Rule
- Walk-ons (unregistered players that show up on game day and want to play) will be picked by team captains immediately before each game.
- If there are any teams that are short players then that team has first dibs on walk-ons
- Walk-ons that show up consistently for 3 or more consecutive weeks are eligible (but not required) to be drafted to a team.
